LZW License

GIF (and internally the GIF export component) uses an adaptation of the LZW compression algorithm for image compression. UNISYS patents the LZW algorithm. UNISYS requires royalty payment for all software that uses the LZW algorithm. To avoid the use of the LZW algorithm for writing GIFs, this application can write GIFs using a LZW compatible RLE compression method. See the .ini settings for more information. The UNISYS patent on the LZW algorithm may or may not apply to you depending on the laws of your country. If you intend to export diagrams to GIF format using LZW compression, please contact UNISYS to obtain Unisys license information.
